Found myself on a panel for Facebook Cafe sharing my thoughts and opinions about online privacy and safety with Country Director Facebook Singapore, Ms. Sandhya Devanathan, as well as Privacy and Public Policy Manager Facebook Asia-Pacific, Ms. Arianne Jimenez.
How we consume social media has changed so much ever since its birth which I believe many of us witnessed. Gone are the days where we were only able to Poke people, level up our zombies/werewolves/vampires or choose between Jedi/Sith on Facebook. It has become so much more.
We can only do so much by encouraging safe behaviour online. It’s up to YOU to ensure your safety and privacy. 2FA your various social media platforms, ask yourself a few questions before posting something online, get familiar with the privacy settings and shortcuts on Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram. And for heaven’s sake please stop using your birthdate or “0000” as a password. Don’t blindly follow trends or challenges that could compromise you and your online safety.
Thank you for making it this far. Swipe for Pancake. :)
