Current self tanner: NONE 💁🏼♀️. My skin feels (and smells) better that way. Y’all, I’ve been self-conscious of my pale skin ever since I was a kid (middle school to be exact). Mine was the generation that grew up in tanning beds (the ones who didn’t “know better” quite yet...) and a tan always made someone “look better”. As a ginger, that was REALLY hard to chase, and the presumptive need to keep up with a tan consumed me year ‘round. .
Just over the past few years have I begun to love my complexion and the way it compliments my hair. Apparently nobody told me, but red heads aren’t supposed to be tan 😱 (correction- I bet my mom told me but surely I didn’t listen 😏). I wish I could tell my 18 year old self that natural is beautiful, that pale skin means healthy skin. I’ve already done a number on it, that’s for sure... but I’ve committed to letting my pale glow shine when it’s naturally present!! (Pictured here☀️). Although the occasional event or trip may call for a spray tan, I’m freeing myself of the expectation to be tan - especially in the winter! Who’s with me??🙋🏼♀️
On another note... did you know that pleated skirts make for the perfect bump-friendly holiday outfit?!? ❤️ linked this one (and several more of my favorites) to this post! Shop my feed with the free @liketoknow.it app OR head to the “shop my instagram” page on my blog! .
