An oldie but a goodie! This might get kinda long but I’ll just put it here because I want to #novel
This morning I woke up, got on the to do list and put on some funky bluesy tunes to set the mood. It reminded me of this shot, maybe taken about 3 or 4 years ago.
It’s crazy to see the difference in my work from then to now. Today I would’ve softened the light on the credenza, eliminated the reflections on the radio and brought in more detail and depth from the window. On that same note, I still love the realness and playfulness of my older work and I won’t deny that sometimes I miss apart of that “no rules” mentality I would have when I used to shoot. Today, my gear bag is a bit heavier, my editing is more intensive and I shoot with SO much more intention. I’ve come to find that through these last few years, not only do I have a body of work, but I also have this sort of documentary that allows me to see a part of me that is an ever evolving student of photography. I’m grateful to realize that these small variations in my work are all from learning, taking risks and making mistakes along the way. It’s a good reminder to stay true to your own unique style but to also learn as much as possible along the journey. Now that I’m done with that rant, back to the music 🎶
