I remember years ago training with a global leader in the Lean Methodology. These guys were SO good at what they did. One guy in particular (Hi Chuckles!!) can walk into ANY business, look at it and SEE HOW it could work more efficiently.
DAMN IT I LOVE THAT STUFF!!! I remember talking to him about it on one early occasion saying; “So you’re saying, it doesn’t matter what industry or business, the process is the same?” What I’ve come to discover is, for the most part, they are!
I remember learning how to see problems/opportunities as a process.
You see the process, you respect the people & you take a “go look, go see” approach to determine what’s ACTUALLY going on (not what you THINK) then work together to make things more efficient & sustainable. (Psst. That looks like less stress, less overwhelm, more creativity, less chaos, more energy!) MIND BLOWN! Sounds simple yet so many people skip these steps. We all want to jump to the FIX IT part. I get it!
I remember one project where it was FULL ON. There were long days observing & analysing data & I remember late one night he said; ‘It always gets to this stage & you start to think, are we ever going to get there?” Then he looked at me & said, ‘It is now that we need to remind ourselves to TRUST THE PROCESS’. I respect & admire this man. He walks his talk & he is true to his word. Mmmm integrity - delicious!
When wanting to make a change in your business, relationships, health, energy etc I feel it’s important to know at the early stages, at times, you WILL question if it is ever going to work. TRUTH!
I call this the ‘jelly moment’ aka “the wobble”. We wobble with; “Is this right for me?” “Maybe I need XYZ first” “I’m already exhausted” “Maybe when life isn’t so busy” etc.. wobble, wobble.
In these moments, you TRUST THE PROCESS. The best way to build that trust is to have someone give you the nod & say “yeah, trust the process!” “You got this!” Support when you’re making changes makes it SO much more bearable & dare I say it, enjoyable 😆
