I was going to give up.
I made up my mind. I’m not pursuing my dreams anymore. It’s too hard. Nothing is happening. I’m over it. I don’t even know if this is from God anymore. Maybe I’ve created it all in my head.
Something must have shifted in the spiritual. I felt it. God said, “Nope. We’re not letting her give up today. She has to keep going.” And so He spoke directly to me. He spoke through others. He sent signs and wonders. He blew me away. He begged me not to give up. He reminded me why He asked me to follow Him and the dreams He gave me.
People around you might not always understand. You might look a little crazy. You might FEEL a little crazy. But if you are hearing God and being obedient to Him, you really can’t afford to stop. Because guess what? IT IS NOT ABOUT US. These dreams He planted inside me? They’re not for me. They’re for Him and for others to see Him. By giving up on dreams, we’re throwing the towel in on spreading The Gospel, and none of us want to do that.
I’m not talking about dreams of being famous on a screen, on a stage, or in a book. I’m not talking about dreams of wealth and power. I’m talking about dreams of being a mom, a wife, a writer, a singer, a church-planter, a designer, a doctor, a mentor.
Dreams don’t have to look like flashing lights to be effective.
Your dreams, big and small, are worth pursuing with grace and patience. It’s a balance of work and rest, passion and peace. God created you for more, but more doesn’t always happen overnight. When we wait, it’s not weakness. Waiting on God is strength. And as we wait, we fix our eyes on Him. As we ponder the next play, we know He has it planned out. As we let our imaginations run wild, we know He is there, giving us visions and slowing down our anxious hearts.
If you’re reading this, don’t give up. God is not finished with you and your dreams ARE NOT dead. Let Him resurrect those bad boys and get to running. Wake up and realize your dreams just might be reality.
