Laitlum Canyons - The amphitheater of Meghalaya. There are so many beautiful places in North East India which are little explored. Laitlum Canyons is just one of them. There is an option to hike down along a steep stairway to the village of Rasong (which we did not know at that time). 11th November, 2017 Picture credits: @r_u__wise #laitlum #laitlumcanyons #eastkhasihills #khasi #meghalaya #shillong #northeastindia #whereisnortheast #chalonortheast #backpacking #grandcanyon #instatravel #incredibleindia #travelrealindia

Fairy tale waterfalls, natural swimming pools and my attempt at nature photography! You can see why one of the waterfalls is called Rainbow Falls. What a paradise! BTW: the spiders were enormous, much bigger than my hand! Location: jungle of Meghalaya (near Nongriat). #meghalaya #nongriat #nongriatvillage #northeastindia #sevensisters #cherrapunji #india #travelmeghalaya #travelindia #butterfly #waterfall #jungle #eastkhasihills

Meghalaya is popularly known as the abode of clouds, anyone who has been there would gladly agree that Meghalaya has few of the best waterfalls in the country with pristine blue water. Rainbow falls is one such hidden gem located among the secluded forests of the east Khasi hills. A series of ascents and descents and approximately 5000 steps from Tyrna village is where you will find this beauty. The path till the falls is stony, broken, slippery, narrow and definitely not an easy one. This trek requires a lot of stamina and we are so glad that we didn’t give up in the middle despite being almost convinced that we were lost and couldn’t go further. Also you won't find many people on this trail. Our advice to future travellers would be to start the trek early morning from Tyrna village till double decker root bridge and stay there at home stay and start the trek towards rainbow falls in the morning, so that by noon when you get there you actually get to see the rainbow (hence the name rainbow falls). We were lost staring into the turquoise blue water and didn't even realise how we lost track of time. SWIPE TO THE THIRD PIC and find a tiny human in the bottom right corner to get an idea of how gigantic the falls are!! . . #rainbowfallstrail #rainbowfallsmeghalaya #waterfallsofmeghalaya #waterfallsofinstagram #cherrapunji #turquoisewaterfalls #meghalayatourismindia #meghalayadiaries #doubledeckerrootbridge #livingrootbridge #rootbridge #nongriat #nongriatvillage #letstraveltogether #unexplored #wanderlusters #travellustcouples #theglobewanderers #traveltalesindia #indiatraveldiaries #monsoontreks #travellersofmumbai #eastkhasihills #meghalayatrip #mumbaicouple #travellust #mumbaibloggerstyle #exploremeghalaya #discovermeghalaya #timelines

Finding some time for a pit stop every once in a while just to sit back, relax and gather our thoughts to continue further on a journey or our lives is equally important. Also, never miss a photo opportunity when you see a place as beautiful as this 🤭🤭📸 . . . . . . . . #throwbacktuesday #nature #journey #travel #travelphotos #wanderlust #indiatravels #northeastindia #northeast #whereisnortheast #indiaundiscovered #meghalaya #eastkhasihills #shotonphone

The living root bridges of the East Khasi Hills! These marvelous pieces of art and engineering have literally existed for hundreds of years. The people planted a specific species of tree at two sides of the river. Then they 'trained' the roots to grow in such a way that over the years the bridges were formed. In the pictures you see the famous 'double decker' root bride in the village of Nongriat. I had the pleasure of using this bridge many times! #rootbridge #doubledeckerrootbridge #meghalaya #nongriat #india #incredibleindia #eastkhasihills #cherrapunji #junglevillage #travelindia #travelmeghalaya
