XX. _________ Carlos Mérida: The art of Mexican fashion A buzzing Mexico’s City in 1920 had bucolic pictures exotizing Mexican women set as the norm for art. Carlos Mérida —a Guatemaltecan artist and diplomat— criticized this simplistic view and started portraying indigenous crafts and clothing. Fashion became the focus of plenty of his works. #museodemoda #carlosmerida #modamexicana #modaguatemala #fashionstudies #historiadelamoda #histoiredelamode #fashionhistorian #artelatino #fashioncollage #artesaniamexicana #moda

#DarksidedDetails/#DarksidedMonograph MARTIN MARGIELA (part I) From 1997 to 2003 Martin Margiela was the creative director for Hermès women's prêt-à-porter collections, thanks to Sanrdine Dumas (daughter of Jean-Louis Dumas), who sometimes had walked the runway for the designer. Margiela's "silent r-evolution" started imperceptibly, adding small details onto the garments such his invention of a 6-hole buttons, which formed a small and chic "H" when sewn through. Simply genial! Two versions of turn of the century fashion. In the early 1900s two styles evolved for women - both of which had been brewing for awhile. A demure and decorative dress that would continue to blossom with its focus on elaborate bodices and trailing skirts. Alternatively, the more masculine-inspired white blouse and plain A line skirt that signalled women’s gradual push towards emancipation. #clarencehwhite @princetonu_artmuseum #americanfashion #gibsongirl #dresshistory #fashionstudies #fashionhistory #vintagefashion #1900sfashion
