Are you new to resistance training? Are you eager to hit the gym and crush it by showing how much you can lift? . . Pause, take a breath and simply focus on form first. Know and understand the proper range of motion for the exercise you are performing before piling on the weight. Start with an appropriate weight that will allow you to move through each repetition in the set with correct form and alignment. . . For most, picking a weight that will allow you to complete 2-3 sets of 10-12 reps with good form, where the last few reps are a challenge, but doable, and you feel like you may have a couple ‘left in the tank’ is the best choice.
