It is so easy as a data analyst to get distracted by the day-to-day, mundane, “give me this data by this deadline” mentality.
It’s important to fulfill your boss’s requests, don’t get me wrong. However, it is just as important to think OUTSIDE your boss’s requests.
As a data analyst or data scientist, your value lies in your ability to approach data from a unique perspective. You present insights to the company that they may have never thought of, and even guide them on how they will make future decisions.
When you lose that ability to think outside the box, that ability to be unique and creative, you lose so much potential value that you could provide.
