Timelines (Part 1)
I stared at the sundial, sidearm in hand, my ghost hovering just behind my shoulder. Osiris told me it was urgent, and I never refrain from helping someone in need, guardian or not.
He told me we could save an old friend of his, and I quickly obliged to assist him. But when I stepped through the portal... I found that I had more than one reason to do this. I saw visions, mere glances into other realities that one of Osiris’s visions showed me.
The first, I saw myself with a sniper rifle on my back in the tower. A sniper that acted as an assistant and actually required heavy ammunition to power. Every so often it would tell me things, like it was my only friend. This must’ve been a timeline of loneliness and solitude. One where many friends were either gone, lost, or worse. I’d hoped by stepping through that portal, I didn’t awaken this fate.
The second, I saw myself again, this time in the wilds of the EDZ, so close to home, so close to the tower. But I was crumpled against a building and bleeding out, my ghost dead and shriveled in the grasp of my own two, cold hands. I gulped when I saw this vision. A cold sweat came over me. Again, I’d hoped by stepping through that portal, I didn’t awaken this fate.
