So, at dismissal a 4th-grade girl beckons me over and asks, “Do you support LGBT?” “Yeah,” I say, but then move along because I’m not sure I should get into talking about sexual orientation with my elementary students.
Still, I’m flattered that she asked me that question because I thought she was trying to see if I was an ally she could confide in.
I go back and tell my coworker this, and she says, “Duh, she asked you that because of your 🌈 sweater.” Oh, right. “And you’re wearing question-mark earrings! 😂” . . . So maybe it seemed like I was trying to send a message at school that there was something to guess about me?—really putting the Q for “questioning” in LGBTQ! 😆
#whatthelibrarianwore: @modcloth sweater (which a waiter went out of his way to compliment me on at dinner—did he think I was signaling him too?) & earrings (which matched the green on my sweater 🤷♀️), #loftlove pants, #sayhi boots. #mymodcloth
