If you follow me in my stories you saw yesterday that half of my pre-lit tree died. I tried my hardest to bring it back to life but I had no luck. So I decided to cut, pull, and break the lights off the tree (seriously was a workout, I was sweating lol) to then put a new strand of lights on. And that’s exactly what I did! Was it easy? Heck no, but it was worth it! This tree is one in our bedroom so it’s not like we “needed” it but I still wanted the Christmas warmth in our room but not spend money on a new tree.
In our day and age of fast fashion there is also fast decor. I see it all being given away at thrift stores or thrown away everyday. A pre-lit tree is no different. Most people would have thrown out the tree and bought a new one. I not only wanted to keep another Christmas tree from a landfill but I wanted to give it another memory on top of the rest from that tree. This tree was mine and my sister’s tree when we lived together, mine and my hubby’s first tree as a couple, and now we can add the story of me stripping it of all it’s lights. 13 years of memories for this tree and because of a little hard work there will be many more to come! 🎄🥰
