We went to Big W today and it was MENTAL. It completely over powered my senses. I used to work in retail in malls, so I know how it is and how it gets around Christmas time, but we must have gotten used to the slower, friendlier, dimmer lit pace of the opshops.
The lights were too bright, there was SO. MUCH. PLASTIC, there were kids everywhere nagging the adults for toys. I nearly even got sucked in. We were walking through the toy aisles and I found myself looking for one for Zsebi and had to stop myself and go, “No, Barb, take a second. Zsebi is completely happy with toys from the opshops, toy library and things from her aunties. She doesn’t need you to spend $AllTheMoney just so you can get out of the shop because the lights are too bright. “
It’s such a challenging mindset to change.
So we left and went and found a dimly lit opshop down the road, where Zsebi nagged me because she wanted to get out of the pram and stretch her legs. 🤪
Here is a pic of some plastic dolls that we have found over time on our opshop visits and a Zsebi hand helping place them in the right spot so I could photograph them to get ready to list.
