You know what I don't do enough?
Get in the photos WITH my kids. And I'm trying to fix that. I always have a million excuses not to do do it.
Maybe I'm having a bad hair day, or am not wearing makeup. And sometimes photos are a reminder of the new fine lines that are appearing, or a reminder of the things I don't like about my body.
Time is another excuse. I always have a million other things I need to do, and after working at my to do list, I'm exhausted, and the last thing I feel like doing is getting in a photo.
But you know what? There will come a day when the moment has passed to get in photos with them.
They won't always be children, and I won't always be this young. Their memories of this time in their lives will fade, and they'll have trouble remembering me as I am right now. And they'll want to be able to do that.
And you know what else? When my kids are grown and gone from my home, I also am going to want to remember this time. Yes, it is chaotic. It's exhausting. But I also know I'll always look back at this time as one of the BEST eras of my life. And I want to be able to visualize it.
And so, I am trying to do better about being in photos. The cell phone daily photos, as well as the photo session with another photographer photos.
I'm begging you to do the same. Whether you book a session, or make a point to take more selfies with your little ones, just make sure your documenting yourself, and not just everyone else.
Now, surely I am not alone. Who else struggles with this?
